MCMM operates the City of Detroit's After-Hours Emergency Shelter and Emergency Outreach Services Helpline, providing critical support during evenings, overnight hours, weekends, holidays, and other times when traditional homeless service systems may be unavailable.​

The helpline serves as a vital safety net for individuals and families experiencing housing crises, homelessness, domestic violence situations, medical emergencies, behavioral health crises, and other urgent circumstances. Working closely with shelter providers, outreach teams, hospitals, law enforcement agencies, emergency responders, and community organizations, MCMM coordinates emergency shelter placements, transportation, crisis intervention services, and emergency outreach responses throughout the City of Detroit.​

• Emergency shelter placement and coordination

• Emergency outreach response and deployment

• Crisis intervention and problem-solving

• Transportation coordination

• Referrals to emergency and supportive services

• Coordination with hospitals, law enforcement, shelters, and outreach providers

• Assistance for individuals and families experiencing homelessness or housing emergencies

The helpline plays a critical role in ensuring that vulnerable individuals and families have access to shelter, safety, and support when they need it most. Through compassion, responsiveness, and strong community partnerships, MCMM helps bridge critical service gaps and provides hope during times of crisis.​

 

Together, these three programs form a comprehensive continuum of care that addresses immediate needs, crisis response, housing placement, and long-term housing stability for thousands of individuals and families throughout Metro Detroit each year.
